Mr Konstantinos Polychroniadis was born in Athens, Greece. While at school, he participated in several model United Nations conferences and became involved in social work and environmental protection. Following the completion of the I.B Diploma Examinations, Konstantinos was admitted to the Management School at the University of Surrey in 1999. He gained valuable corporate management training at the Boca Raton Resort and Club and the Harman-Nickolas Leisure Group at the Golden Coast in Florida.  His final year dissertation on "Low-Cost Airlines – Emergence and Sustainability" received a first class mark.  Moreover, Konstantinos and his team were awarded the "3i prize" (related to venture capital funding) for their 'Airline Catering' Business Plan in 2003.

To satisfy his rising interest in the transport sector and especially in the airline business, Konstantinos advanced his academic knowledge by reading for the MA 'Transport Economics' at the University of Leeds; having received a scholarship, he successfully completed his studies there in 2004. His thesis on airport accessibility included a feasibility study with primary research and econometric analysis on Stated Preference techniques. He is now working on his PhD thesis: "Air Transport Liberalisation, Safety and Tourism. Is there a dangerous trade-off?" at the University of the Aegean, which has raised the interest of EUROCONTROL.

Konstantinos is currently involved in freelance consulting. He participates in projects studying the petroleum industry and its relation with aviation (AVIN OIL, MOTOR OIL-ARAMCO, JET-OIL). He has also founded "Chilloud Ltd."; this is a Performance Measurement organisation that specialises in Total Quality Control & Management through the use of Mystery Shopping techniques in the airline and airport industry (Central Europe Airlines, bmi airlines, Athens International Airport Retail, Bristol Airport Retail).

He is also engaged in academic work with an article on "Reducing Car Use – Maximising the use of inter modal systems" where he introduces methods of reducing car use by designing cost and time-effective urban, suburban and rural transport systems. He has also contributed in Dr Papatheodorou’s articles: "Regional Airports in Greece. A hidden treasure?" (2006) and "Air Transport Liberalisation, Cost Reduction and Safety. Is there a dangerous trade-off?" (2006).

Mr Polychroniadis has been observing and analysing business trends as an associate correspondent for international airline, maritime and tourism magazines (http://www.efoplistis.gr/, http://www.airlinerworld.com/)

Konstantinos is an experienced user of econometric and statistical software packages; he speaks three languages (Greek, English, Italian) fluently and two at a working level (Spanish, French). He is a member of the Hotel and Catering International Management Association, the American Hotel and Lodging Association, the Alternative-EcoTourism Worldwide Club, the Hellenic Aviation Society and the German Aviation Research Society. As part of his extracurricular activities, Konstantinos enjoys a cruise with friends on his sailing boat or a fast windsurf ride.
