Mr Emmanuel Keramianakis is an ex Director of Air Transport and International Affairs of Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority.
He started his professional carrier as an Airport Managing Director and served Athens and Heraklion (Crete) International Airports for five years. He was then granted an OECD scholarship to attend a course on Transportation Planning and Engineering at the University of Southampton, in England.
Emmanuel has successfully represented Greece in congresses and meetings organized by the European Civil Aviation Conference in Paris and Strasbourg. He has also represented Greece in summits, congresses and work teams of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Montreal. He was appointed by the said Organization as an ICAO expert for mediation on Dispute Resolution (1999).
Mr Keramianakis has chaired the Greek Aviation delegation team for the negotiation of the Greece-USA Bilateral Air Agreement (1984-85) and (1990-91). He was an active member and Head of the Greek delegation in more than 70 rounds of air negotiations. He had been a member of the European Commission Aviation Group for over 15 years; the group elaborated the first, second and third aviation liberalisation packages. He also participated in various Aviation Groups, Councils of the Ministers of Transport in Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg etc.
Emmanuel studied Political Sciences and Law at Athens and Thessaloniki Universities. He holds a Diploma in Administrative Law, a Masters Degree in Regional Studies and a Postgraduate Diploma in Transportation Planning and Engineering from the University of Southampton. During his studies there he elaborated a Thesis entitled "Optimization of Air Transport Services to the Greek Islands". The study was used by the Greek Authority to conform to EEC legislation on Air Transport Services to island and remote regions of the European Community Countries. He also elaborated a study on the development of the International Air Cargo Transportation in Greece submitted to the Greek Ministry of Trade (1990).
Emmanuel participated as a speaker in Air Transport Fora organized by Cranfield University in Jersey, Cork and Stockholm in 2001, 2003 and 2005. He has given lecturers and presentations in Thessaloniki University with subject "The Liberalization of Air Transport in the European Community and its impacts on Greece". He also made a presentation at the 2nd Annual Conference of the European Law Association in Athens (2004) on the subject “The Legal framework of the Greek Air Transport”. He has written papers on air transport matters published in Greek newspapers and magazines. Emmanuel had been a lecturer and examiner of the Civil Aviation School in Greece for over 15 years; he also conducted executive courses for Managers and Airline staff and Representatives in Greece (1990-1994).
Mr Keramianakis has offered his services as an adviser and Consultant to the Minister of Transport and to Aegean Airlines. He participates as an active member of various air transport societies and he is currently the President of the Hellenic Aviation Society.
