Dr Kostas Iatrou works as an air transport consultant and is a founding member and partner of AirConsulting Group in charge of airline agreements. In this capacity, he has worked on several projects including the impact and possible benefits of the code-share agreement between Lufthansa and Aegean Airlines on the traffic of the Greek carrier and the relocation of Air France offices to the new Athens International Airport. He has also conducted executive seminars (e.g. for Sudan Airways in Khartoum, March 2006) under the auspices of IATA’s Training Fund. He has also participated as a speaker in seminars organised by AGIFORS on Scheduling & Strategic Planning and Cranfield University on Air Transport Management. He is a co-author of the book Airline Choices for the Future: From Alliances to Mergers, to be published by Ashgate Publishing, London in January 2007.
Kostas holds a PhD in Air Transport Management from Cranfield University. In his thesis entitled "The Impact of Airline Alliances on Partners' Traffic", he examined the alliance phenomenon and the way it has impacted on airlines. He also holds an MBA (Master in Business Administration) from the ESLSCA Business School.
Dr Iatrou has presented his work and research at the ICAO Liberalisation Symposium and at several conferences of the Air Transport Research Society. He has contributed with articles to highly esteemed academic journals in the air transport sector such as the Journal of Air Transport Management, the Journal of Air Transportation, Aerlines Magazine (http://www.aerlines.nl/issue_32/32_Kalligiannis_et_al_Questionnaire_Survey.pdf and http://www.aerlines.nl/issue_27/27_Airline_Alliances_Iatrou.pdf), Annals of Air and Space Law, McGill University Institute of Air & Space Law. The Airline Business magazine has quoted his work. He is the Secretary General of the Hellenic Aviation Society and member of prestigious and well-recognised air transport societies including the Air Transport Research Society, the European Aviation Club and the Royal Aeronautical Society. He is a Member of the Reviewers’ Panel of the Journal of Air Transportation, SITRAER Conference of Brazilian Air Transportation Research Society. He is the chairperson of the Organising Committee of the 12th World Conference of Air Transport Research Society to be held in Athens in 2008.
Dr Iatrou speaks three languages (Greek, English and French). He is a keen photographer specialising in airplanes and air views. He is highly interested in athletics, especially running. |
